Festival SynchroSkate is a Skate Canada program that offers skaters of all ages an opportunity to participate on recreational synchronized skating teams and qualify for National level competition in a program specifically designed to meet the needs of this type of team and skater. Synchronized skating, or "synchro" is a specialized discipline of skating involving groups of twelve or more skaters performing various group formations and maneuvers. The objective is for the team to perform as one unit executing circles, blocks, lines, wheels and intersections in unison to the music, while demonstrating quality edges, power and flow. At Glacier, Harmony on Ice is a Masters level Festival Synchro Team. Many of the skaters are over the age of 35. Skaters must be at least 25 to compete at the Masters level. Harmony on Ice competed for the first time in January 2007 at the 24th Annual Rose Bowl competition and placed 3rd. In 2008, they placed 3rd. This masters festival team also performs in Glacier's Ice Skating Gala. Come out and join Harmony on Ice this Summer!
Glacier is also having tryouts for a younger adult festival synchro team. If you are a collegiate skater and/or an adult skater between the ages of 18 and 25, contact Glacier directly. Come watch Harmony on Ice practice this July to see what synchro skating is all about. S k a t i n g S e s s i o n s
